Getting started with Fervyn

Fervyn is an AI roleplay companion that runs entirely on your own computer. There's no account, no cloud, and nothing to subscribe to. You download one installer, run it, and start.

1. Download

Download the Lite installer — Windows, one file.

2. Install

  1. Run Fervyn-Lite-Setup.exe.
  2. Expect a Windows SmartScreen warning. The installer isn't code-signed (we say so plainly on the front page), so Windows shows "Windows protected your PC / unknown publisher". That's what unsigned looks like — not a malware verdict. If you verified the SHA-256 above (or checked the file on VirusTotal), click More info → Run anyway.
  3. Follow the prompts. The installer sets up Fervyn and its local image engine on your machine — nothing is sent anywhere.
  4. First launch downloads the models for your hardware — its own runtime stack plus the chat and image models, roughly ~28 GB for the 8 GB config, ~32 GB at 12–16 GB, ~38 GB at 24 GB and up — one time. The download shows progress and resumes where it left off if your connection drops or you close the app. After that, the companion experience runs offline.

Your characters, chats, and picture-books are stored in your user data folder — they survive uninstall/reinstall, and updating is just running a newer installer.

Want the full picture before you commit? The installation guide walks the whole flow band by band — exactly what your card downloads, timings, and what to do if anything looks stuck.

4. Keep your story

From the saved-chats menu you can export any chat as a self-contained bundle: the full prose, every image, and a verifiable provenance + watermark record on each panel. See Privacy & provenance.
